I am interested in the intersection of biology and energy, in particular the effects that geological carbon sequestration will have on microbial communities in the deep earth, and how these microorganisms may alter the geochemistry of a carbon sequestration site. In addition to obtaining a better understanding of microorganisms in deep environments under high partial pressure CO2, I am interested in incorporating microbes into engineering solutions to prevent CO2 leakage.
